Long time, no blog

Hello there lovelies! Miss me? Life has been crazy, as it has a tendency to do around my birthday and the holidays, hence my absence. I finally have a chance to breathe, so I wanted to catch you all up on the happenings in my running adventures.

First, I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend and allowed yourself to eat some tasty treats. I had a great day, even if I wasn’t able to go back to Iowa and visit family.

I have continued to do Bikram Yoga over the last couple of weeks. I love it. The second and third class were so much better than the first; I am taking my fourth class this week. Bikram will become a part of my cross training going forward. Being drenched in the first five minutes of class is not the most enjoyable thing in the world but its done wonders for my body in terms of flexibility.

In addition to Bikram (and probably with the aid of Bikram) I have been able to get in four pain free runs in the last week! Talk about a huge sigh of relief, especially since on the 20th I had a run that started out great, but ended painfully! I have 39 (!!!!!) days until my first marathon down at Disney and I was really starting to get worried about my hip and completing the run. I am determined to just finish my first marathon!

I wish I could tell you that my life was full of wonderful adventures and crazy stories, but I am pretty boring, so you aren’t going to see that. My biggest excitement right now is looking to replace windows in my house. Whoohoo—jealous?!!? It’s hard to believe its already December. Where has this year gone!?!?

Happy running and happy December.

Glad your hip/IT band is feeling better! You were right... I LOVED Bikram Yoga. I wish I could do it often, but it's so expensive!!

I'm pretty sure I'll be running at Sparks this weekend, our normal time (unless this photographer who is supposed to take our family photo gets back to me and tells me our shoot time is earlier than expected). Are you and Katye going to be there?
Big hugs (and I'm so excited for your marathon!)!

Hip problems, yoga, replacing the windows in your house -- I can relate to all those things this year! Wow -- your first full is coming right up. Good luck with the rest of your training! I can't wait to hear how it goes!!! My advice: don't have a goal time; just have the goal of finishing. And start SLOW so you can pace yourself -- you will run out of energy before you finish if you start too fast. Carb, baby, carb!

Silly hint -- The night before a big run (esp. a distance like a full), I like to have a powerbar and gatorade by my bed. Every time I wake up (which is a LOT before a big one!), I take a bite and a sip. It's a sneaky way to top off the carb supply without having to eat or drink a bunch all at once right before you run.

Keep us posted -- I am loving your blog!!

I tried Bikram once about 5 years ago. Not sure why I never went back. I'd like to start again.

How many times a week are you going/planning to go?
