4 Days

Yesterday, I set out for 3 miles (after work, by myself---shhhh—don’t tell hubs). No big deal, right? I had taken some rest (I was on the arch machine) to try and let my shins heal (because I ran on the treadmill a couple of times last week) so this was a pretty easy run, just getting the legs warmed up and ready for Saturday.
My knee was screaming by the end of it. Did I rest too much? Is my body protesting my crazy miles? Is my mind just freaking out? I am getting taper madness and phantom pains??

I am not freaking out though. I have a foam roller, I have Aleeve, I have a stick, I have a plan, and I have an awesome couple of partners in crime for Saturday. I have trained (courtesy of TMB Endurance Training plans), worked hard and pushed myself so that when this half arrived, I would kill it. Slaughter my PR by at least 20 minutes (ok, so I have a lot of room to improve, but still—it’s a sign of progress).

In 4 days, I will be running my second half marathon and I will see just how far I have come. I. Can. Not. Wait.

Happy Running everyone, because really, is there any other way???

You're going to do great, Erin!
I think that having a history of injuries makes the phantom pains pop up before race day. I used to get mad at my brother for telling me I had phantom injuries, but now I believe it! Running a race injured is my worst fear, so I think that manifests itself in the form of pain that may or may not be there.

Sounds like your awesome attitude will win over this one!

Good luck Erin! Don't worry about your crazy body this week--it's just used to you running all the time and doesn't know what to do with itself. Oh, I wish I was running on Sunday in Des Moines, but I'll be walking instead. I'm looking forward to seeing your results!

Good luck on your second half. Don't forget to have fun. It's easy to get caught up in the moment and forget to take it all in.

I've been freaking out about my knees too. They don't even really hurt, I'm just totally paranoid. Like, I don't even want to cross my legs because it'll cause added strain! I'm such a goober... Anyway, I'm sure we'll both be fine. Best of luck on Saturday - kneo 'em dead!

Good Luck on the half this weekend! I'm sure you will do fine, your knee may just have a few aches from giving your legs a rest. When I take 3 days off my run feels like my first run ever sometimes.

I hope you have great weather Saturday.

I have just started training for an ultra marathon, I just posted my crazy training schedule if you are curious :). HA
